Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need therapy?
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.
Many people reach out when they are:
Feeling overwhelmed, anxious or stuck
Noticing patterns they don’t understand or want to change
Struggling with burnout, stress or emotional regulation
Processing past experiences or trauma
Wanting to understand themselves better
If something doesn’t feel quite right, or you’re finding things harder than usual, therapy can offer a space to explore that.
How do I know if occupational therapy is right for me?
Occupational therapy focuses on how your experiences are impacting your ability to live your day-to-day life.
This might include:
Managing routines, work or daily demands
Emotional regulation and overwhelm
Neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, sensory differences)
Burnout or difficulty sustaining participation in life
If you’re looking for support that combines understanding why things are difficult with practical ways forward, occupational therapy may be a good fit.
What do I need to start therapy?
You don’t need to prepare anything in advance.
All you need is:
A private and confidential space
A stable internet connection
A device for video calls (phone, tablet, laptop or computer)
We will work at your pace, and you don’t need to have everything figured out before starting.
How do I prepare for therapy?
There’s no right or wrong way to prepare.
Some people find it helpful to:
Think about what’s been feeling difficult recently
Reflect on what they might want support with
Notice any patterns or situations that stand out
But it’s also completely okay to come without a plan, we can figure things out together.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Appointments can be booked via the booking link in the navigation bar at the top of the website.
If you’re unsure where to start, you’re welcome to book a free introductory call first.
What platform do you use for video calls?
Sessions are delivered via Google Meet, which is secure and easy to access.
You will receive a link prior to your session.
Do I need to be at home for therapy?
No, you don’t need to be at home, but you do need to be in a private, confidential space where you won’t be interrupted.
For example:
At home
In a private office
In a parked car
Therapy cannot take place while driving.
If you are in a public or shared space, it’s important that:
You are not overheard
You feel able to speak freely
You are not being interrupted
For EMDR therapy:
A laptop or computer is required (not a phone)
You must be in a private, interruption-free space
This helps ensure the work is safe and effective.
Do you use AI in your practice?
Yes, AI is used in a limited and supportive way for session transcription.
I use Heidi Health, which is a secure, healthcare-focused platform designed to support clinicians with accurate note-taking.
This means:
I can stay more present and focused during sessions
Notes are captured more efficiently
Your time in session is prioritised
All use of AI is:
Confidential and secure
In line with professional and ethical standards
Focused solely on supporting clinical documentation
If you have any questions or preferences regarding this, we can discuss this together.
What if I’m experiencing risk or in crisis?
Therapy is a space where we can talk openly about difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences, including risk.
As part of our work together, I will always consider safety and risk in a thoughtful and collaborative way. This may include talking about how you’re coping, what support you have around you, and what helps you stay safe.
However, as sessions are delivered online, this service may not be suitable if you are currently in immediate crisis or require urgent support.
If at any point it feels that you need more immediate or intensive support, we would discuss this together and I may recommend accessing additional services, such as your GP or local crisis team, alongside or instead of ongoing therapy.
If you are in immediate danger, it’s important to seek urgent support through emergency services.
What if I’m not sure where to start?
That’s completely okay.
You’re welcome to book a free 30-minute consultation to talk through what’s going on and whether this feels like the right fit for you.
