Lucinda Pollard - emOTive Therapy
Do you feel overwhelmed or stuck in negative patterns of thought and behaviour?
You don't have to face these challenges alone.
As a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist, I can help you understand more about yourself and how to get where you want to be.
There are many ways I can help, whether that is learning how to manage your anxiety, learning how to get through a job interview, understanding how to support your ADHD, reducing your self-harm, managing your emotions or many more.
emOTive therapy was born out of my passion for combining my expertise in Occupational Therapy and mental health alongside supporting individuals in times of difficulty, change, or feeling lost.
I understand that life can be difficult, and each person has their own reason, which leads them to seek out therapy. I hope to create a safe and trauma-informed space that allows you to feel comfortable exploring and processing your feelings, thoughts, past traumas, and anything else that is currently impacting your life.
Do any of these resonate with you?

Risk
As online therapy is conducted in a remote setting, it may not be suitable for individuals experiencing a crisis. Please be aware that therapy sessions often include risk assessments, and if it is determined that you are in crisis, it will be advised to seek immediate support from more appropriate services.
As an occupational therapist specialising in mental health, I am dedicated to providing person-centred care that supports you in addressing the challenges of your life. I understand that navigating difficult circumstances can be overwhelming, and I am here to offer a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your experiences. Our sessions will consider your unique circumstances, empowering you to overcome obstacles, find meaning, and reclaim control over your life. Your journey is at the heart of the sessions and I am committed to supporting you every step of the way towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
As a fellow neurodivergent therapist, I offer a unique perspective and deep understanding of the neurodivergent experience. I am committed to providing neuro affirming therapy, which means embracing and celebrating neurodiversity throughout our therapeutic journey. I recognise the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive environment where your neurodivergent traits, strengths, and challenges are valued and validated.
With EMDR, we can address the difficult experiences that have impacted your life, allowing you to process and integrate them in a safe and transformative way. I understand that these experiences may have caused emotional distress and affected various aspects of your well-being. Using the power of EMDR, we will work collaboratively to reprocess traumatic memories, reduce their emotional intensity, and help you develop adaptive coping strategies. Through this person-centred approach, we will empower you to overcome past traumas, find inner resilience, and create positive changes in your life.
I use evidence-based approaches that are supported by research and proven to be effective. These include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These are all underpinned by Occupational Therapy.
As your therapist, I want you to know I am here to support you. Opening up and discussing your innermost thoughts and feelings can be uncomfortable and challenging, but I am here to sit with you in the discomfort and help guide you through it. I believe in using humour and metaphors when appropriate to help bring light to even the most serious topics. Together, we will work towards your values and goals. We are a team, and so though I will never row the boat for you, I will be there to help you row when it can feel too challenging (I told you I use metaphors).
I take a holistic approach to mental health, considering the impact of the environment, family, friends, physical health, work, hobbies, relationships and sense of self on your well-being. Together, we'll explore the factors contributing to your mental health and develop strategies that support you in moving towards and maintaining what matters to you.
With remote therapy, you can attend sessions from the comfort of your own home or office. I offer flexible scheduling options to accommodate your busy schedule, including evening and weekend appointments.
I believe it is so essential for you to feel comfortable with your therapist. However, knowing which therapist is the right one for you can feel intimidating. To support that, I offer a free 30-minute introductory call. There is no expectation to commit to booking further sessions, and it is an opportunity to ask me any questions you would like. I also commit to being open and honest, so if I do not feel I have the right qualifications or training to support you, I can share this with you and offer advice on who may be best suited.
Client feedback is anonymised to protect the confidentiality of my clients. I take client confidentiality very seriously and aim to keep all information shared during therapy sessions private and confidential. Anonymising client feedback ensures that I maintain my clients' highest level of privacy while still receiving valuable feedback to improve the service.
